Mission and Objectives

The World Food Programme is the leading humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and changing lives through food assistance in emergencies and long-term nutrition and resilience programs. Despite significant global efforts to end hunger and achieve food security, one in ten people worldwide still face food insecurity. WFP’s mission is central to breaking the cycle of hunger and poverty, as evidenced by its historic reach in 2022, assisting about 160 million people globally.

Context

This assignment involves creating six pieces of social media content to celebrate and raise awareness for World Food Day 2024 and Disaster Risk Reduction Day 2024. This includes two social media cards and one motion graphic for each day. These materials will be designed to highlight how WFP Caribbean supports food security and disaster risk reduction efforts in the Caribbean region, to be used across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Key Responsibilities

As an Online Volunteer, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the WFP Caribbean Communications Officer and the communications team.
  • Design four social media cards and two motion graphics.
  • Collect and integrate information on WFP Caribbean’s initiatives in food security and disaster preparedness.
  • Create draft designs, incorporating feedback from the communications team.
  • Adhere to WFP’s corporate design guidelines to ensure brand consistency.

Required Experience

  • Professional experience in graphic design, particularly in creating document layouts.
  • Proficiency in graphic design applications (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in graphic design or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Language Proficiency: English (required), Spanish (fluent, desirable).
